A penny for Andre Villas-Boas’ thoughts right now? Its fair to say it hasn’t exactly been the smoothest introduction to life at Spurs with the sceptics already out in force just three games into his reign at White Hart Lane. It’s easy to sit and point the finger of blame at Villas-Boas for the North London clubs poor start to the Premier League season. Those who do obviously suffer from chronic short-term memory loss. Fact of the matter is the 34-year-old has been forced to oversee a period of intense transition over the summer that saw him lose both Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart within days of each other and scrap around the market looking for replacements. 10 out, including the retirement of captain Ledley King, and six in. I think thats what you call transition. And it’s something that Spurs were in dire need off after stagnating under Harry Redknapp. Sadly time is no longer a virtue in football and the Portuguese tactician already finds himself under pressure to garner instant results. With the players at his disposal there is no reason why Spurs shouldn’t start climbing the table and challenging for the top-four. But should he fail…well it doesn’t bear thinking about.

“Clint always is so dangerous. I sent him a message saying I was very happy because he is a fantastic player. He is a good boy so I am very happy that he is here. He is so hungry to score goals. He fights a lot and it is fantastic to have him in the team. He works as hard as two men so I’d prefer to have him in my team rather than play against him.” Moussa Dembele reveals he is happy Clint Dempsey has joined him at Tottenham
