    THE BIGGER PICTURE

After claiming the Premier League Player of the Season award in the 2023-24 campaign, Foden saw a massive dip in his form. The England international went 11 matches without scoring a goal in the league this season. However, he has now regained his momentum and has scored six times in the club's last six league outings.

  • WHAT PHIL FODEN SAID

After starring for the Cityzens, the England international told : "Probably the best this season, in terms of all-round play. Kept possession at important times and we defended well. One of our best performances this year.

"We are building momentum, keeping players fit is important. I put it down to people being in better shape and the team bonding better. When we score we are not rushing it. We are keeping possession and build-up play was important today."

He added: "I learned everything from it [poor form]. It is good to see me back scoring goals with a smile on my face and enjoying football. I want to keep going and adding to that. You never know what can happen. The aim is to stay in the top four."
