Isak has left the Magpies stunned by telling the club he wants to leave this summer amid transfer interest from Liverpool and Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Chairman Al-Rumayyan and PIF are now set to have the final say in an "unusual" move by the Magpies, according to the . Al-Rumayyan "usually takes a back seat" when it comes to running the club but PIF want him to take charge, and not manager Howe, due to the significance of the decision.

Liverpool remain interested in landing the 25-year-old and have already made it known to the Magpies they are willing to spend £120 million (€137m/$161m) on Isak this summer despite having already splashed out on Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.
